Pierre d'Avesn
The following information about Pierre d' Avesn comes from the Art Deco Ceramic Glass Light website and I quote.
Pierre d'Avesn 1901-1990
It is said that he worked for Ren'e Lalique, a famous French glass designer, at the age of 14.
During the 10 years he worked for Lalique, he designed the "Serpent" vase and the "Tourbillons" vase shown below.
These vases are highly sought after by collectors and fetch a high price.
In 1926, he left Lalique to found his own design studio.
His designs were produced by the Cristallerie de Saint-Rémy.
In 1930, Daum Freres approached Pierre d'Avesn to take over the artistic direction of the moulded glass department at the Croismare glassworks.
glassworks in Croismare.
This affiliation lasted until the 1936 strike.
From 1937 to 1940, he took over the management of Verly's.
From 1940 he worked independently again.
His designs were then produced by the Cristallerie de Choisy-le-Roi- (Sèvres).
Piere D' Avesn stands in a line with other famous French art glass designers.
